Private Patients

I offer professional consultations, investigations, and management of a comprehensive range of hepatology and gastroenterology conditions.

I have admitting rights or practice privileges at Nuffield Health Warwickshire (Leamington Spa) and Circle Health Group The Meriden (Coventry) Hospitals. Elective admission or urgent transfer from NHS hospitals is restricted, assessed on a case by case basis, and subject to the patient’s clinical status.

Local hospital Covid policy applies - Covid swab and self-isolation.

N.B. A request for transfer to NHS care midway through a care episode may involve a new referral via the standard NHS pathway. This may entail seeing a different NHS consultant, and access to NHS tests or treatment would not normally be sooner.

Medical insured patients are advised to check with their insurers about the requirement for a GP referral letter. Open (or insurer directed) referrals relating to certain insurers and funding products are welcomed at both hospitals.

If you need to change or cancel an appointment, we do expect a minimum of 24 hours notice. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee for failure to keep an appointment, or for cancellation at short notice.

    About the Consultation

The standard fees are £195 for the first consultation (20-25 minutes), and £125 for a follow up consultation (15-20 minutes). Extended consultation may be charged pro rata. I will accept the different fees for specific insurer/ funding products involving an open referral. The secretaries will be able to confirm this for you at booking.

For insured patients, the invoice is sent directly to your insurer for settlement. Patients who self fund outpatient consultations may be requested to pay the full balance on the day of the consultation.

Your GP will be informed of the consultations, investigations and management by letter unless you request otherwise.

    Investigation and Treatment

I will perform all endoscopic procedures myself. I am a fee assured BUPA consultant, and adhere to all other major insurers' published tariff for procedures. My fee schedule is typically met by the insurance providers. A schedule of fees can be obtained from the secretary.

Many different health insurance policies exist. Medical insured patients should check with their insurance providers about policy cover for tests and treatment costs, and identify if they will incur any shortfall. Insurance companies typically require a pre-authorisation to fund any radiology or endoscopy test and treatment.

N.B. The specialist's procedure fees are normally separate to the invoices from the hospital for procedures or other tests carried out. The invoices will usually be sent directly to your insurer for settlement. The patient remains liable for any fees incurred that are not covered in full by their insurance.

If you choose to pay for your own endoscopy or treatment, you could consider the CHG or Nuffield Health self-pay options. Please refer to the published CHG Meriden and Warwickshire Nuffield Hospital fixed price packages for guidance. The procedure or treatment package prices quoted typically do not include the initial consultation charge. An indicative consultant fee for initial consultation may be provided for guidance only. My initial consultation charge (listed above) is separate to the procedure or hospital fees, payable even if you subsequently decide not to go ahead with the procedure.
