Welcome
Endoscopy procedures are key investigations for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders in gastroenterology and hepatology. Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine for the study of the digestive system (stomach and bowel) and its disorders. Hepatology includes the study and management of liver, gallbladder, biliary tree and pancreas disorders.
Gastroenterologists provide a range of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy procedures to investigate presenting symptoms such as abdominal pain and a change in bowel pattern. We advise on the management of the symptoms and medical GI conditions. Gastrointestinal endoscopy is a diagnostic as well a treatment modality. The latter complements surgery and interventional radiology e.g. the management of GI tract malignancies, colon polyps and bile duct gallstones. We perform emergency endoscopies for GI bleeding, and planned endoscopies (surveillance or screening) to detect/follow up GI problems e.g. varices, polyps and cancer.
