I studied medicine at University of Wales College of Medicine and qualified in 1993. I completed my specialist gastroenterology training in the West Midlands, which included the Liver Unit in Birmingham. I undertook a research fellowship at Peninsula Medical School (South West England), under the supervision of Drs H. Dalton and H. Hussaini at Royal Cornwall Hospital and Dr T. Galloway at University of Plymouth. The research project “Optimising thiopurine use in inflammatory bowel disease” culminated in a thesis, and the award of an M.D. by Peninsula Medical School (Universities of Plymouth & Exeter) in 2005.

I provide a comprehensive, professional & personal service in hepatology, gastroenterology, and endoscopy. I perform general gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopies e.g. a gastroscopy or colonoscopy. At University Hospital Coventry, I undertake advanced endoscopies namely endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) using a short wire system, cholangioscopy and EHL therapy, endoscopic Upper GI stenting, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG).

I use specialist endoscopy devices including SpyGlass® device, OverStitch® Endoscopic Suturing System, Orbera® Intragastric Balloon and Hot Spaxus® Lumen-Apposing Metal Stent.

I collaborate with my local and regional colleagues in hepatology, hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery and interventional radiology to offer a multi-disciplinary service for liver, pancreatic and biliary disease. I offer endoscopy support for the Upper GI & Bariatric surgical team and Obesity or Specialist Weight Management services.

Some of the advanced gastrointestinal endoscopies or liver fibroscan are not available for private patients at my base hospitals. I can advise an onward referral to a colleague or another centre.
